I enjoy Linux Mint, but the absence of touch support in Chrome or Firefox on my ThinkPad X220T is a minor hurdle. I need a way to scroll web pages with my touch display, similar to Windows. Any suggestions?

I’m not familiar with Linux Mint, but I’ve often relied on the touch screen to navigate Google Chrome because it offers built-in features. This applies to many Ubuntu versions, Arch, and even Solus recently. Firefox presents a different situation.

It doesn't function properly in Chrome or Firefox, or anywhere else. Check the link provided: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/touchscreen

Support for touch works well on all operating systems. In reality, it feels more responsive compared to Windows. However, I’m referring specifically to Google Chrome or Chromium, as well as Firefox. My touch drivers are set up properly and function correctly, but Chrome seems to have issues.

There might be a workaround in Chromium by adding these flags to /etc/chromium/default. This enables touchscreen features like pinch zoom and drag scrolling without touchegg, saving memory. Chromium runs directly with the xf86-synaptics-driver, which supports multitouch if synaptics is used instead of libinput. I’m not familiar with Linux Mint yet, but it doesn’t seem to have the same problems as Chrome.

I've tested every recommended option. None of them helped me.

I set up elementary OS Loki 0.4 and it included solid touch support similar to Windows. It’s been running smoothly for a few days, and I’m happy with it. Other Ubuntu-based distros didn’t work well with touch functionality. Probably because I’m still getting familiar with Linux.
