That's another way to look at it. Engaging in a game and finishing it gives you the full experience. A test drive only covers the initial phase, while playing a game is like owning a Ferrari for a long time and then selling it when you're ready to upgrade... nobody sells a Ferrari before it leaves the showroom. Piracy is just another form of theft—there are no exceptions. If you can't pay for something, you opt out. Stealing this particular game not only costs the developers £40 but also Sony a £300 console, resulting in a loss of £340 for one person. Probably only 1 in 1000 people download games illegally in this manner. Statistically, that means around £2.38 billion is lost each year just from one game. Of course, not everyone plays games, but the number of illegal downloads is likely much higher than that. If you don't see piracy as a problem, you wouldn't be surprised to see me walking into your house and taking a few items before leaving in your car. The same crime, just in a different setting.

Emulation isn’t about the hardware but the software that runs games. Both PS4 and Xbox One use x86 architecture, so technically you’d need the necessary code and dependencies to make them work. It’s not just about the platform itself.
