Hello, I’m looking to try GBA and DS emulators on my Windows 11 school laptop. This is my first time using an emulator, so I need recommendations for one that runs smoothly and supports Pokémon games. I’d love features like randomizer options and gamepad controls.

The GBA and DS models have been completed for many years, possibly a decade or more, so relying on older versions is perfectly acceptable.

Search for PokemMo on the online world platform. For ROMs, check archives or Reddit communities. Treat it as your own project. RetroArch supports various systems.

For GBA I rely on VisualBoyAdvance. On DS I use DeSmuMe. I’m not sure about the randomizer, but both allow rebinding inputs, so controller compatibility is assured. ROMs are straightforward—just search for the game and append "rom" to find plenty of links. I haven’t run into malware problems personally, though you should proceed with caution.
