I purchased a Windows 10 Home laptop and a Windows 10 Pro key from a seller. The product key isn’t working for activation, and I’m certain the issue lies with the keys. I need to delete the digital license entirely without moving it. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 3567, which came preinstalled with Windows 10 Home. I also bought a Pro key from a local seller. Changing the product key in Windows 10 Home triggered an error saying it failed. Formatting the drive and installing Windows 10 Pro didn’t help—activation still fails due to missing or invalid license. The troubleshooter suggested a valid Windows 10 Home key exists, but I’m not sure if that’s the case. I’ve already contacted the seller about the key and expect a replacement soon.

Turn off the internet connection and format the drive completely. Do not enable internet access at any time. If the system still reports a license detection, it indicates Windows has stored a key in the BIOS or firmware. For a desktop setup, clear the CMOS and perform a factory reset on the motherboard.

The device is a laptop; I attempted to turn off the internet and perform full formats but the license remains visible in the BIOS. Can you check if there’s a method to remove it from there?

The laptop BIOS is quite poor and lacks useful options. Consider performing a factory reset through the BIOS settings if you're willing to give it a shot.

I don’t know how to do that. You can reach out to Microsoft support through their official website or contact channels.

I'm having the same issue too. I use a Gigabyte motherboard, I installed Windows 10 using a program and it became permanent. I've reset the PC many times with an original ISO USB from Microsoft. Do you know how to remove this digital license? Thanks and sorry for my English—I'm still learning.
