Greetings!

I observed a problem during my Fortnite sessions today – my central processing unit consistently reached 100% utilization in the task manager. Consequently, my frames per second decreased significantly, falling from approximately 130 to 70-80.

Here’s a breakdown of my system specifications:
- 8 gigabytes of RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8 gigabytes of VRAM
- Intel Core i5-8400
- ASUS ROG Strix - B360-G-GAMING

I'm configuring my game with the following settings:
https://imgur.com/a/aFyy8D6

Furthermore, I’ve noticed that my graphics card and central processing unit average temperatures rise to 70°C while gaming – a substantial increase from the previous 55°C I experienced playing League of Legends a month ago, even with maximum settings.

I’m concerned about these elevated temperatures and lack comprehensive understanding of computer hardware, so I would appreciate some insight. Could someone explain whether these temperatures might potentially impact my components?

Also, I’d like to explore ways to address the 100% CPU usage and associated frame rate drops.

All drivers are current, and no other applications are running in the background at the time of gaming.

Please feel free to request any additional details if needed to provide more tailored recommendations. I would be immensely thankful for any advice that could assist me with resolving this issue. Thank you in advance!

I've observed that many users have reported the game running noticeably worse over time. Do you think this is primarily due to performance issues?

I’m not very familiar with technical details, so I would appreciate it if you could explain this to me:

- Is the system’s temperature a significant concern? I want to avoid potentially damaging my hardware.
- Could the problem be related to the developers’ side – specifically, high CPU usage and a decrease in frames per second? I hope you understand what I'm asking.
- Recently, I was unable to update my motherboard for three months because I just acquired an Ethernet cable, allowing me to download updates through the BIOS. Do you believe this might improve my performance?

Thank you again, 13thmonkey; due to my lack of expertise, I...

Temperature isn’t a concern, it's a consequence of heavy workload, so all systems are secure. The current focus is to determine the reason behind the rise in usage. Providing a screenshot from your system monitor illustrating current processes would be helpful.

Could you provide a screenshot of the task manager either as you're gaming or when the system initially starts? Thank you!

13thmonkey :
both please, programs sorted by CPU usage.
Thanks for taking the time out of your day to help, I do appreciate it!
This is when no games are playing:

This is with Fortnite and launcher open:
https://imgur.com/a/Ku9dS0E?fbclid=IwAR3...CUAtdmqD5Q
I noticed it immediately goes to 70% when just opening the launcher and 100% immediately when opening the game. Could this be the thing affecting my FPS?
Once again, thank you!

That launcher looks very hungry for what it's doing, has it been updated recently, is anyone else complaining about it on the fortnight forums?

I’ve observed that many users have expressed concerns about the game's declining performance, and it seems like this might be a primary factor. Due to my limited technical understanding, I’d appreciate some clarification:

- Is the system temperature a significant concern overall? I want to ensure I’m not risking damage.
- Could the performance issues be attributed to the developers – specifically, high CPU usage and a decrease in frames per second? Do you understand what I’m asking?
- Recently, I was unable to update my motherboard for three months because I only recently acquired an Ethernet cable to download updates through the BIOS. Do you think this update might improve my system’s performance?

Thank you again, 13thmonkey; your guidance would be greatly appreciated given my lack of expertise!

I’ve observed that many users have expressed concern about the game's declining performance, leading to questions about whether this is truly the core issue.

Given my limited technical background, could you please explain:

- Are these elevated temperatures a significant concern for potential system damage?
- Is the problem primarily due to the developers’ actions – specifically, high CPU usage and a drop in frames per second?
- I recently installed an Ethernet cable, which allowed me to update my motherboard after a three-month delay. Do you think this could have positively impacted my system's performance?

Thank you again, 13thmonkey. I recognize that my understanding of these matters is basic, and your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t worry about those temperatures – they are simply a consequence of how the game is being used, and pose no risk to your system.

Dismiss any comments suggesting poor optimization; most people lack the technical expertise to accurately assess the situation and often use complex jargon to appear knowledgeable. We’ve determined that the issue lies within the launcher software, and it’s likely a temporary glitch that will be addressed in an upcoming update for the launcher itself. I believe it’s currently using 1% of resources, not 17%.

This isn't a hardware problem, so there’s no need to update your motherboard BIOS; in fact, attempting this could be risky and unnecessary.

Hello, I've observed that many users have expressed concerns about the game’s declining performance. Could this simply be due to a lack of optimization?

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about technology, so I’d appreciate some clarification:

* Are the reported temperatures genuinely concerning in terms of potential system damage? I want to avoid negatively impacting my hardware.
* Could this issue be linked to the developers’ end – specifically, high CPU usage and reduced frame rates? If you understand what I'm asking.
* Recently, I was able to update my motherboard thanks to a new Ethernet cable that allows me to download updates through the BIOS. Do you believe this might positively influence my performance?

Thank you again, 13thmonkey. I recognize that my understanding is limited, and your guidance has been greatly appreciated!

Don’t worry about those temperatures – they are just a consequence of how the game is being used, and pose no risk to your system’s health.

Dismiss the discussions about unoptimized performance; most people are using technical jargon without truly understanding what’s happening. We've established that the problem lies with the game launcher, not the game itself.

This problem stems from a malfunction within the launcher software they’ve implemented, an occasional oversight that will be addressed with a future update. My advice is to wait patiently; the launcher should soon operate at 1%, not 17%.

Updating your motherboard BIOS is unnecessary and potentially risky. There’s no need to take that chance, in my opinion.

Just as a final note, these temperatures aren’t high enough to cause any harm to your computer's components.

Given that I only play for a short period each day, there’s no need to consider streaming for extended hours.

Thank you so much for your assistance today – you’ve thoroughly explained everything and made it easy to grasp. I truly appreciate your help!
