Some users wonder if these more affordable private label webcams with 1080P FHD also offer other resolution settings for capturing through their built-in sensor or processor. Do they capture at just one fixed resolution, such as 1080P, or can they switch to lower resolutions like 720P or standard SD (e.g., 480 NTSC) to reduce upload bandwidth? They also prefer avoiding sending the processed image to the host PC for heavy tasks like recomposition, downscaling, or conversion, as those processes are less demanding.
If it isn't mentioned in the specifications, then I believe a standard webcam can't record lower resolution natively. Instead, resizing occurs within the capture software.
