EK S240 Kit for overclocking?
EK S240 Kit for overclocking?
Hi,
I'm planning to construct an ITX setup to boost the performance of an i5 6600k. I'm considering this custom water cooling kit at https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-kit-s240. Will it be suitable for overclocking?
This kit is very similar to the EK Predator without the reservoir. I still suggest this kit or the Predator series over any AIO. For under $150, the Swiftech H220/H240 works well enough, though it doesn't match the performance of the 240 Predator. Both options include dependable watercooling pumps, connections, blocks, and radiators—not the budget-friendly alternatives used by AIOs.
Primarily for appearance, but how will it compare to something like an h100i? It's just a very inexpensive package.
It's affordable because of the slim radius, the res+pump setup, and the pump in the res isn't particularly good. Much of the value in higher-end kits comes from better radii and pumps. D5 pumps with decent 360mm rads cost around $100 each. This set doesn't include a D5 and features a smaller, slimmer radius, but it still works well in practice. In short, it's basically a fancy AIO—paying about $100 just for looks.
