I've created a small, user-friendly computer for home use as a server or NAS. The details are at the bottom of my profile (skip the warning about it not working—I fixed it). I'm planning to run Windows 10 there for several reasons, but it must stay active all the time and shouldn't shut down or restart unexpectedly. I don’t mind ignoring many of Windows 10’s issues here; my main goal is to ensure it never turns off or restarts on its own. Hope this works because using Windows 7 would be much more cumbersome. Let me know.
Turn off sleep mode and disable features such as Windows updates.
If you can afford a Windows server, you won’t have to worry, though I’m sure you probably can’t. There’s no standard way to do what you’re asking conventionally—you could postpone updates and adjust restart times so it doesn’t disrupt your daytime schedule. There are some unconventional methods available, but I’m not the one who can give you direct advice on this. Linux might be a better fit for you.
As I said earlier, perhaps someone else might be interested.
