I wonder if the i3 12100 handles video editing or if switching to an i5 12100 would be better.

Could it handle it? Likely. It won’t complete it quickly. Check out this short clip showing someone creating a video using the i3.

When assembling my PC, I didn’t plan to upgrade the CPU beyond an i5 since I mainly played casual games. I considered getting an Asus TUF Gaming B660M and wondered if a non-K i7 would work. I thought a Z-series motherboard would be necessary for an i7 upgrade.

I previously worked with an i5 4440 for editing YouTube videos. It had occasional stuttering and slow rendering, but it worked. For casual use, an i3 12100 should suffice. If this is for professional purposes, you’ll need a more powerful system.

While my ARC A750 is functioning well, I'm still keeping an eye on things.

This board is perfect for moving up to an i7 processor. The Asus TUF B660M offers reliable VRMs. You can upgrade to a Core i7 13700 after updating the BIOS, and it should work well. For top-end chips or K-series components, you won’t need a Z-series board—overclocking isn’t possible without it.

You don't require a Z series board if you're not planning to overclock. For work purposes, the top choice would be an i5 13600K or i7 13700K.
