Even though none of the three methods we demonstrated suggested ECC is active, they simply couldn't detect its operation. I believe in a desktop setup using Winblows, safety is always a concern. Consistency is another risk. Hope the Crystal Ball predicts that the next Windows patch won’t disrupt my preferred system setup. It seems every other release somehow messes with my installation. There’s no ECC memory capable of resolving Windows glitches. It feels inevitable. XP appears to be the most reliable and secure option currently. Attackers wouldn’t even have a clue about the core OS functionality in today’s software. Most of it likely won’t work anymore, honestly.
It's a genuine mix of emotions—both sad and humorous, given how much of the XP source code ended up leaked. I really dislike Windows 10. I first tried it on my laptop because it came pre-installed on a Surface Book 2, and even on a high-end device designed by Microsoft, it was terrible. That's why I stuck with Windows 7 for a long time. If all the advanced features like sound VRR, ray tracing, HDR, Atmos, DirectX, and Nvidia drivers worked smoothly on Linux, I would have switched earlier. My hope is that as Windows evolves more in the direction of Apple and gaming streaming becomes mainstream, real Linux support will emerge. But right now, my main concern is RAM issues—especially since I tend to hoard data.
I believe you'll be okay. Just rely on it. Use W7 often during tests. I quit the OS since I wanted to play DX12 games like others do. (for a daily routine) Yesterday on W7, 1600+ Palomino AThlon XP at 1.9ghz OC from stock 1.4ghz benchmarks. The blue screens at 1.9850ghz were due to the CPU reaching its limit. Nothing more. It wasn't cold enough. This points to a CPU hardware issue—memory was running below rated speeds. That's why I mentioned earlier that any hardware can cause a blue screen or similar error. GPU, CPU, add cards, thumb drive, SSD... chipset all depend on drivers. Sometimes data is written incorrectly in memory locations, ECC can fix that, but it can't fix my overclocks! lol.
