Essentially, people are following the same approach as Ubisoft. They download games via Steam, but then go through Uplay for distribution.

They're making a comeback, with another Star Wars movie available for pre-order.

Includes an interesting perk: To set it up, you'll require an EA account plus the company's Origin PC client. After connecting your EA account with your Steam account, you can start playing the game via the Steam client. This setup might shift tomorrow, but for now, you won't be able to launch any titles purchased through EA's Origin on Steam. I fully support Origin, so it doesn’t bother me. Still, if I already enjoy playing my EA titles on Origin, what’s the real advantage? Also, "besides the game sales, EA intends to introduce its subscription service on Steam next spring." I’ve never been a fan of any subscription model; I prefer buying games directly at $4–$5 each on Origin. This move by EA into a subscription on Steam seems like the direction it’s heading, and I’m not interested. I’d rather keep owning the games for $4–$5 each. That experience with Mass Effect Andromeda, BF1, BF4, and Star Wars titles has been long, and I still find those $20–$25 purchases worthwhile. I don’t mind paying monthly just to have access to them that month."

If the origins UI wasn't that terrible, it wouldn't be so disappointing to use... but I'm happy they're back on Steam.

The interface has some issues, and I haven't used it recently.

it hasn't changed much over time, but i never paid much attention. it often shows a small delay when browsing, which is quite bothersome. i've also faced problems with updates and downloads getting stuck—this isn't just about the interface, but more of a client-side issue that required several restarts to complete. either way, i mostly relied on origin for dragon age and mass effect.

Have they resolved the terrible lag when downloading on Origin? Also, Apex Legends should function without it, though I’m not sure about the others. It seems they’re likely offering more than just a subscription—you’ll probably still be able to purchase games directly. The Steam interface and social features are much more appealing to me.
