E5-1660 V3 Memory OC
E5-1660 V3 Memory OC
Hey there, it's been a while since I shared on the forum. I was checking if anyone had any know-how with x99 memory OC, as I'm building a new system for my girlfriend and planning some memory tuning to maximize performance. I bought two 2x8 kits of Crucial Ballistix RGB 3600 cl16 (rev e.), which are generally reliable for memory controllers. I'm not aiming for 3600 on a Haswell x99 chip, but I wanted a solid starting point for timing adjustments. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Mobo is Gigabyte x99-UDP4
I noticed the comment, but I was just working. Try the memory straps to see which one performs best. Begin with a low setting and gradually increase it.
I think the 1660 v3 offers the highest IMC quality for the Haswell x99 chips. It might help to slightly improve the Xeons to avoid any issues with sensitive operations, or maybe I'm mistaken and it could just be a standard 5960x with ECC turned on. I'll share my findings in this thread once I have the chance to experiment.
I choose haswell-e instead of broadwell-e xeon because the v3 chips support overclocking. I plan a gentle boost around 4.2 to 4.3, aiming for 1.25v or lower.
