Professor Google confirms compatibility with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge desktop CPUs, meaning your main concern might be cooling. If you already own the PC and CPU, testing it is advisable to check performance. They share the same socket, so the most likely outcome is the system failing to boot. For future upgrades, consider a desktop i7 if you plan to purchase a CPU. The only notable distinction is ECC RAM support.

Xeon e3 1260L works with the Lenovo Ideacentre H520s. Temperatures are acceptable, though the fan runs fairly loudly. The BIOS version shown in the photo (May 24, 2013) is ESKT24A.
