DX12 and FC4
DX12 and FC4
So as most of you know Far Cry 4 (FC4) has some major problems with stuttering and hitching. It also has an issue with multi threaded load distribution. What it does is it makes a single core stay near full load while not touching the others. What I was wondering was if the game will receive an update when DX12 is released that will allow support of the new API. Do you think that DX12 will help with the stuttering?
It's hard to believe the Ubisoft and the DX12 upgrade will still matter a year later, especially with new developments on the horizon.
The issue stems from the hitching and shuddering. The new AC is scheduled to arrive soon.
Ubisoft isn't improving their titles. Watchdogs keeps having stutter problems, and they haven't resolved the save file corruption from Uplay. AC Unity is also still not fixed.
I wouldn't wait to see a resolution, as their update timeline for major projects is extremely fast. I don't think significant improvements will last more than a few months after release. Most problems have workarounds available: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Far_Cry_4. Rewriting Far Cry 4 for DirectX 12 seems unlikely. Whether DX12 could help depends on the specific issue, and I lack the expertise to predict it. My thought is the stuttering isn't a DX11 flaw but rather poor coding practices. It's not a widespread issue across games, except perhaps for Ubisoft titles. This leak is unverified but may still be true: http://kotaku.com/next-years-big-assassi...1665343788
