Completed a fresh installation and my i9 13900k is running smoothly so far, but during stress tests or when downloading software, temperatures jump from 30°C to 100°C almost instantly. When the test ends, they drop back down to 30°C right away. It seems the CPU can't change temperature that quickly, though I'm not sure what's behind this behavior.

Obtain a bending correction frame. May seem simple yet it works. Note: This thermal response is typical. Expect a BCF to appear.

It might stem from the CPU handling the boosted power from the PSU.

I'm experiencing the same issue with my 13600K.

It comes entirely from the increased power consumption. I misunderstood his first message... I believed it varied during testing. The rise to 100C at startup is typical for a 13900k. I corrected my original comment. Still, I think adding a BCF makes sense for a 12 or 13 generation CPU.

Just wondering what cooling method you're using. It seems the heat from the CPU isn't being managed well enough. Since it's a high-performance chip, under-voltage control could help. Water cooling and a contact frame also work effectively (as mentioned before). The contact frame is the most affordable option to start with, but you need to install it properly. The factory-mounted locking frame can slightly misalign the CPU if not done right, though it works with any cooling solution. You might want to check out some research from channels like Derbauer and GamersNexus—they've covered this topic in detail. Contact frame link: https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/produ...er8auer-en

You're experiencing inconsistent temperature readings from your NZXT Z73 360MM AIO, especially during idle. The new thermal paste you received might improve things, but it's unclear if it will resolve the issue since similar problems previously affected all temperatures.

It refers to the software accurately monitoring Intel temperatures or the CPU smoothly switching between high and low power states without noticeable delay.

When you apply force to a small CPU running at 200W or 300W, the hottest area on the core will quickly reach 100°C. The temperature adjustment takes longer to react. Consider lowering your CPU voltage, which can make a difference. The 13900K is a strong processor, but its heat generation during heavy stress testing can spike significantly. It’s functioning properly. Fluctuations in temperature are typical. Use HWINFO to keep track.
