I built my initial PC with a Windows 7 disk, then later got an upgrade key for Windows 8. What happened to the Windows 7 key? Is it tied to the upgrade key or can I use it elsewhere? My goal is to buy an ASRock beebox without an OS, and using that Windows 7 key would be ideal so I could upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Also, if Windows 10 Pro costs around £140, is there anything preventing me from getting a new Windows 7 for about £35 and upgrading within a year? Thanks for your advice.
