Sure! The main difference is how the RAM is installed and whether it can be used in both slots. Buying the same RAM twice means you’re using two identical sticks, which might not offer extra performance benefits. Dual channel RAM allows you to use two different RAM modules, potentially improving system speed and efficiency.

Dual channel RAM isn't actually a standard feature. It often arises from confusion in naming or marketing claims. The RAM itself doesn't inherently support dual channels; this depends on the motherboard and memory controller. The main distinction is that kits containing RAM have been tested to function together. Outside of server environments, where reliability matters most, this isn't a major concern. Purchasing identical RAM from different kits usually works well, though exceptions can occur.

nothing really... there is an extremely slim chance that 2 of the same sticks may not work well together, but again.. EXTREMELY small chance... where as a kit that is 2x whatever is tested and guaranteed to work by the manufacture together.

They're designed to function in dual-channel mode, but given how common dual-channel is now, it's irrelevant. If you intended to set up octa-channel on your Epyc system, I'd recommend getting an octa package.

I was thinking about why purchasing identical RAM is more affordable than buying a complete kit. Now I plan to go for the kit since everyone else is upset, it’s already tested and confirmed to work together.
