You're experiencing issues with Windows updates after setting up a dual boot with Antergos Linux. It sounds like the update process is failing due to conflicts or compatibility problems between the two operating systems. Since both OSes are on the same physical drive but separate partitions, the root cause might lie in how they interact during updates. This situation isn't typical and could require checking update logs, ensuring drivers are up to date, or investigating potential conflicts in the bootloader configuration.

I hadn't realized this before. Your Windows setup might be affected.

I really don’t want to reinstall Windows. I have a lot of important files I can’t afford to lose. Or maybe I just don’t understand how installation packages function.

Everything is fine, the whole process is quite simple! Consider getting a Mac. However, it seems the dual-boot setup might have affected the Windows partition. Run sfc/scannow as an administrator to see if it can fix the installation issues.

I wouldn't use a Mac and I'm not debating. I'll value your perspective as much as yours. (Apologies if it sounds a bit defensive—I tend to be on the defensive on this subject) This is helpful, I'll give it a shot. However, my main question is whether I can reinstall Windows without losing any of my files.

Windows cannot retain all information, but a reset can instruct it to preserve your data. It will try to save personal files, which may refer to Microsoft’s storage system, provided the installation is fixed.

I’m unsure about trying that. Windows seems to be working well, but the update issue bothers me. It might be better to keep things as they are. I hope it’s not some hidden problem with Windows interfering, though that seems unlikely. I’m focusing on switching entirely to Linux and don’t really like Windows anymore.

Hope you're doing well! I'm considering turning my PC into a Hackintosh. Although Linux appeals to me, the absence of available apps and subpar system features are discouraging. I also prefer MacOS for its experience.
