Hey there, I'm trying to use the DRAM Calculator but it doesn't list B550 motherboards. Should I pick X570 instead? Should I adjust the RAM timings? If the system doesn't boot, can I still reach the BIOS or would I need to reset it manually? My setup is a PCPartPicker Part List with an item for the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. Is it worth tightening the RAM speeds? And what about accessing BIOS if I encounter boot issues?
The only thing I grasped was resetting the CMOS when it fails, though I might be a bit confused about all this.
The dram calculator hasn't performed well for me, but x570 works better. With 3000 cpus you can reach up to 1900 on the infinity fabric (set manually for values over 1800), which equals 3800mhz on RAM. This gives a performance boost of 5-20% in speed and tighter timings. Tight timings need extensive testing. For slower speeds like trfc, I use larger steps (10-20) because it usually reduces timing issues. It's wise to add a bit extra on trfc (15-20) since it can cause unexpected failures at stable settings. Clear CMOS might lead to boot failures if settings change. The main page and bottom-right sections can help stabilize settings that pass tests but fail later, though this takes a lot of time to test. If you hit 3600mhz on cl16, you'd likely notice a 3-6% improvement.
The DRAM Calc suggests running at 3200MHz CL14, but the difference from CL16 is notable. In the Overclocking Potential section, it lists 3596MHz CL16 with 81% chip quality—consider proceeding if that fits your goals.
Hello, I have almost the same specs but my Docp profile isn't working on my TUF B550 motherboard. I have 32GB with four sticks, Corsair timings 16-18-18-36. I just turned the voltage up on the RAM and set the FCLK to 1600, changed the timings to 18-18-18-38, and let everything reset as per the profile. I ran Memtest86 with no errors and everything is running smoothly when playing Warzone. Is this timing really bad? I just want the 3200MHz and don’t mind sacrificing a bit for better performance. The voltage is set to 1.4, I watched a YouTube video.
