I recently purchased an XFX Speedster QICK 308 AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card for my initial setup. Once everything was configured, I downloaded and played the Battlefield 2042 beta for roughly thirty minutes without any issues. But when trying other less demanding titles, I encountered a driver timeout. After trying some fixes I found online, nothing appeared to help. Battlefield 2042 continues to function well, and among the five games I tested, it remains the only one that works smoothly. I’m puzzled—sometimes the game loads fine, other times it crashes before the start menu appears (this happens with Apex Legends too). I suspect a hardware problem, yet it doesn’t make sense that Battlefield 2042 runs perfectly while Valorant causes the driver to time out. Here’s my parts list: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dBGwNP CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($328.24 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja 5 43.03 CFM CPU Cooler ($59.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard ($199.99 @ Adorama) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($71.98 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($94.00 @ Walmart) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($72.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GA 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ EVGA) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($99.99 @ Newegg) Custom: XFX Speedster QICK 308 AMD Radeon™ RX 6600 XT Black Gaming Graphics Card with 8GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA™ 2 (Purchased) Edit: List of games that work: Assassins' Creed Unity, Battlefield 2042, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Lost of games that do not: Apex Legends, Valorant, Rust, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, PC Building simulator, Minecraft

Verify you're using the right driver and not a modded version. The error box should display red and gray, not blue. You can get the official ones from the AMD support site here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/...rx-6600-xt. The recommended version is 21.8.2 because it's WHQL certified. Remove the outdated drivers using DDU. If that fails, try 21.10.1 as well.

It occurs with other drivers as well; I noticed someone suggesting Pro drivers to resolve the problem, but it didn't work for me. I simply forgot to revert them.

Reduce the GPU clock speed by roughly 100 MHz. If the problem disappears, you likely received a DOA—your best solution is to return it for repair. If it persists, there may be additional steps we should explore.

Sorry for the delayed response, thank you for your support and attention. I reached out to AMD, but since it was the weekend, I didn’t receive a reply until Monday evening. By then, I had already taken the PC to a repair shop. A week went by and the PC was back in my hands. They mentioned some OS corruption with Windows 10 and assured me everything was fine. They also stated they tested each game for about 15 minutes, though I wasn’t sure if they actually played or just loaded into the main menu. I returned home on Saturday, plugged the PC in, and the same problem persisted. I attempted various fixes—installing drivers without AMD Radeon Software, reinstalling the OS—but nothing helped. The next day (today), Apex Legends unexpectedly loaded past the initial screen, and I started playing smoothly. Things seemed normal, and I enjoyed my session. I decided to try Rust to see if it resolved the issue. I played for about two hours straight without any problems. The only change was unplugging my Razer headset, so I suspected that might be the cause. After a one-hour break, I returned and resumed playing, but the issues reappeared. I restarted Apex again, and the same problem came back. I’m confused—drivers are up to date, I’ve tried everything, and I paid $160 for a repair at that shop (with a 30-day warranty). After emailing AMD with some diagnostic files (Dxdiag and System Info), I still haven’t gotten a response. I’m at a loss and regret buying this AMD GPU; I’ve always preferred Nvidia. I’m considering underclocking now. It’s puzzling how it worked briefly before.

Bit of an update. Not sure if you meant undervolt instead of underclock because I could only find how to undervolt, but I followed along with this guy's tutorial. Apex Legends seems to be running fine for now. I'm gonna play for a few more hours and hope it is fixed. If not, this will likely go on the backburner as I am gonna have a busy week with school and don't need this on my mind.
