I'm a PC technician and tried many solutions but hit a dead end. My HP Omen screen is broken again. I don’t want to spend another 150€ on a new screen since I already have a better laptop. I used it with a monitor as a second screen for a year or so until the LCD was removed from the laptop, leaving the connector open. Another monitor works perfectly before Windows loads and even runs smoothly on Linux. After installing a new Windows and monitor, everything worked until the GPU drivers were pulled during updates. I've tried Windows 10 and 11 randomly, but it would turn on only once without explanation. I plan to give it to another child who doesn’t have a PC, as Linux isn’t an option. Help is needed! Also, the screen is completely black—it’s not missing signal. I’ve tested various monitors, cables, and even USB-C → HDMI, but nothing helped. On Windows, I can’t see anything because I can’t view it. The monitor goes black before Windows loads, so maybe it’s not the drivers issue. I tried using Win + P, but no luck. I hear the sound is fine, so I’m not stuck at the login screen. I’ve replaced the broken LCD just to check the connection, but nothing works. Once a monitor turned on, I hoped it fixed itself and set up a duplicate display, which restarted but went back to black again. After that, I reinstalled Windows twice more. I’m stuck and won’t give up because that child depends on the PC. The BIOS is working fine, and the graphics card died recently. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you all.

I would prevent Windows from downloading GPU drivers. I’d likely also skip any driver updates from Windows. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answer...er=answers This site explains how to disable Windows driver updates, supporting both Windows 10 and 11. If Windows fails to install updates properly, it may install outdated or unstable drivers.

Received this in years, but generally items like GPUs, sound cards, and certain hardware often require custom drivers. Other components such as Bluetooth dongles usually function without issues. Many things have worked before—Windows will use any driver added by the publisher from updates. I’ve seen Lenovo laptops pull bad drivers from Windows updates and then install fresh ones with Vantage to fix them. You might want to set a rule for Windows not to update drivers automatically.

What occurs is Microsoft maintains the older driver by policy since they understand it functions well for most users. It’s likely that new features in the latest driver won’t work on older devices. Visit the manufacturer’s site and download the appropriate version. You also have the option to exclude driver updates.
