Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my Alienate with an x58 chipset by adding an SSD as the operating system drive and reinstalling Windows. Once everything was running smoothly, I checked the Windows Performance Index and noticed a significant improvement—storage performance jumped from 5.4 to 7.6, which matched my expectations. Later, in Device Manager I realized I didn’t have a driver for my SATA controller. After finding the latest driver version and installing it, I rechecked the performance index again. To my surprise, my storage stats returned to the original 5.4. I’m certain the driver is correct and my BIOS is set to AHCI. I’m confident my setup is working well and all drivers are properly configured. Have anyone had similar experiences? Are there any downsides to skipping the driver installation and relying on native performance? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The Windows performance indexer isn’t the best method to assess PC health. Regarding SATA drivers, I’m not sure if they’re essential. I’ve installed them and haven’t seen any speed issues that could be caused by them.
