Driver malfunctions during gameplay It stops working while running applications Issue occurs only with certain games
Hello, I understand this subject might be on the wrong page. I’m facing a problem that started about three to four weeks ago. When playing games such as ETS2, Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, War Thunder, Raft, and Battlefield V, the Nvidia driver often crashes and sometimes activates the TDR, causing both screens to go dark and then recover in a few seconds. This is especially noticeable in Battlefield V after the TDR; the screens stay black afterward. In contrast, other titles like HOI4, Roblox, Cities Skylines, etc., run smoothly without any crashes. I’ve spoken with NVIDIA Support and tried several solutions: reinstalling or updating graphics drivers, updating Windows, cleaning internal components, adjusting game settings, setting Power Management to "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the NVIDIA Control Panel, and performing a full Windows reset. I’m about to follow these steps: connect my laptop directly to a power source instead of a power strip, run Windows Memory Diagnostic or MemTest86 to check RAM health, and log driver crash details from Event Viewer. Regarding the errors, the driver crashes and triggers TDR is recorded under Event ID 14 (source nvlddmkm), but the description isn’t available. It seems the issue might stem from a missing component or a corrupted installation. You can install or repair it locally. If the problem started on another machine, ensure display data was saved with the event. My system specs are: ASUS TUF F17 FX706HC, Windows 11 Home, i5-11400H (2.70 GHz), Intel UHD graphics, RTX 3050, 16 GB RAM. The graphics driver is up to date (version 31.0.15.4592). I’m using Windows 22H2. The issue mainly occurred in War Thunder during the same period my laptop was brand new. Games would freeze for about 30 seconds to a minute or crash occasionally, while others ran perfectly. The GPU isn’t overclocked via BIOS; it’s only boosted by Armoury Crate as "Turbo" Mode, and temperatures stay below 95°C. I’m seeking a reliable, lasting solution and want to know who is behind this problem. Apologies for the hurried communication and my language mistakes. Thanks.
Download DDU, this Nvidia driver and this Intel driver. Turn off the network to stop Windows updates from installing any drivers before we apply the one we need. Then proceed with the instructions linked in DDU to remove both the Intel and Nvidia drivers. When reinstalling, install the Intel driver first. After both are set up, you can turn on the internet. We run this process because some laptops encounter problems if we don’t follow these steps.
