Hello, I'm trying to resolve issues with my AMD GPU driver crashes. I recently purchased this GPU and have just installed Windows 24/3/2024 along with all the latest BIOS, driver, chipset, and Windows updates. Despite those steps, the crashes still occur. I even reinstalled Windows 10 to verify everything is correct. I'm not very experienced with PC troubleshooting, but I'm trying to figure this out. If you have more details, please let me know. I'm okay with basic computer tasks but not with fixing things in Event Viewer. The error message says: "dxgi_error_device_hung" and it affects "Games Effected: Need For Speed:Unbound, COD:MW2 (2022)." PC specs are: CPU Ryzen 7 5800X, cooler CORSAIR 360 AIO, GPU RX 7800 XT, 4GB RAM at 3600MHz, MSI Mag-B550 Tomahawk, 750GOLD PSU, case Hyte Y60.

Are you using the card in its original configuration? The temperatures look normal. You can find helpful tips in this Reddit discussion, and some recommend using admin privileges.

I've tried DDU before but had no success. The temperatures are fine. I'll review your information and get back with the outcome. Thanks.

Currently nothing has resolved the issue. The program will run briefly before freezing and displaying the message "DirectX function 'GetDeviceReason' failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" (The GPU won't respond to more commands). GPU detected as AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, Driver version 23.3.1. This problem typically stems from a crashed graphics driver—consider updating the drivers. GPUBradcrumbs:

Consider using a DDU then set up an older driver version directly from the site. Could offer better stability. Make sure to DDU and install offline to prevent automatic updates, and turn off MSI Centre since it caused problems before. Do you have any other software for managing hardware like Afterburner?

After DDU the outcome remains consistent, even with older drivers. I lack access to an MSI Centre. For other hardware utilities I don’t own. I rarely feel the urge to overclock or make any changes. Everything is running smoothly and Windows was set up on the third of this month. What I downloaded included chip sets, drivers, updates, BIOS, and game launchers like Steam—just that. I reinstalled Windows just to confirm nothing was damaged. I don’t want to risk altering settings or causing problems. Still, Unigine Heaven has been stable for a while without issues (over 10 minutes to an hour). But when I start playing real games, the crashes happen after about 10 minutes to two hours of AMD Driver use. I’m at a loss and wonder if I should consider returning my money. I spent the night researching and testing, but nothing has changed.

Do you have anything to say about this? If not, I'll treat it as a defective card and request a refund.

I’d return the card, owning a 7800XT with (bar helldivers but that’s fine) I’ve never faced any problems or significant crashes.
