My machine is quite outdated, so I can't afford a new one. However, while trying to play Ac Origins and Odyssey, I discovered that dxvk can help reduce the CPU strain. I was able to get it to run smoothly at 471.96, though the least stable driver I found (442.59) is still not compatible with Vulkan 1.3 or newer. Still, it feels like it needs a bit more tweaking to maintain that steady 60 fps. I'm searching for a reliable driver for a Pascal-based GPU that supports Vulkan 1.3 and above, so I can try dxvk 2.0.

Here are my PC specifications:
- CPU: I5 7500 3.4 GHz up to 3.8 GHz (I’m considering upgrading to the 7700K but new models are hard to find and used prices are outrageous)
- GPU: MSI 1060 6GB gaming trio (slightly overclocked, around 100/450)
- RAM: 16 GB of 2133 Kington HyperFury (clocked via XMP profile)
- PSU: Bequiet SystemPower 9 750 watts
- Motherboard: B250G MSI

Most people would suggest going for the latest components, but in my experience, that’s often not practical. So here’s a clearer version:
1. Would anyone recommend a stable driver for Pascal GPUs that supports Vulkan 1.3 or better?
2. And there’s a risk involved—my Windows updates stopped on January 21st (KB4601554) because I can’t uninstall it anymore. Any further performance issues would be disastrous. I don’t play anything extreme, like Skyrim or Valhalla, but if anyone has tried Windows 22H2 with a fully updated system and had good results, I’d love to hear about it.

for your cpu the top choice on the used market is i7-7700, often available on eBay. your best direct x 11 option works if the game supports it, though vulkan doesn't function well on pascal due to architectural constraints, a problem that was resolved in 2000 series and later models. 22h2 has some gaming issues which could harm hardware performance. using the stock cooler for intel might need updating to something like this link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermalrig...8-8-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&th=1. keeping the cooler at its maximum clock speed for longer will help.

my cpu cooler is Freezer 34 which honestly is..... overkill for 7500 but I got in on a ridiculous sale so why not. Hmmm then why did it improve my ac odyssey perf at least somewhat. With its internal monitor tool it transferred a lot of calls from the cpu to the gpu for what the number showed. I wonder if I try to run these games with HAGS on (to my understanding it does something similar to transferring calls from the cpu OS to the gpu but just on a general level.) it would work better.
