Drive letters with broken characters
Someone might find this amusing. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 Edu using the built-in refresh feature. It changed partition letters, so C became F and added an extra recovery partition (F → C D). The volume shrank by roughly 450GB, and an EFI partition was added at the end. Disk 0 is now a virtual drive, though it doesn’t exist physically. I created a 465GB drive with EFI and recovery partitions, mapping one as E and leaving the other unmapped. Writing to it works, but everything on it vanishes after rebooting, even if reformatted. Should I consider a more drastic solution?
Start with a fresh setup instead of a reset. A clean installation will ensure Windows functions correctly.
