DRAM voltage too high?
i have an i7 4790k with 16gb of dr3 rated at 1600mhz. without changing the voltage manually, i can reach 2000mhz without issues. however, in dram it shows 1.6—i checked standard ram voltage guidelines and it says the average should be about 1.25. this worries me a lot and i’m concerned it could harm my system. i’ve overclocked the cpu to 4.6ghz and experimented with settings, but i’m not very experienced. my motherboard is an asus sabertooth mk2 z97. thank you in advance for any advice.
The DDR3 standard operates at 1.5V. Up to 1.65V is permissible, but exceeding it risks damaging the equipment. 1.2V serves as the typical voltage for DDR4.
