Windows 10 system details: I5 13600K with ASUS Z790-A Wi-Fi (model not specified). Graphics card is RTX 3080 (MSI). Memory setup includes two 16GB DDR5 modules at 5200MHz (Corsair). Power supply uses a CORSAIR RM850x.

Hi everyone, I recently experienced a sudden shutdown while playing Helldivers 2 on my PC. The system froze completely without any visual indicators. Despite the fans spinning and RGB lighting active, it didn’t power back up. The DRAM light was illuminated, and the motherboard is functional.

I’ve tried several fixes: reseating RAM, testing individual modules, removing and reinserting the GPU, reseating the GPU, cleaning CMOS, and performing a full power cycle. I’m not sure if it’s a RAM issue since I just received a replacement in December, but something else might have caused this failure.

It might be a faulty motherboard. All other components you've checked are functioning properly.

This path wasn't among the usual options. The setup worked well for most of a year and a half, except for a few rare blue screen incidents. Are motherboards prone to sudden failures? It seems possible.

It seems the system has been experiencing intermittent issues since installation. Component wear may be progressing slowly, worsening over time. To diagnose further, consider testing with a fresh RAM module not linked to your existing setup. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, switching to a different motherboard could be the next step.

In short, I just installed a new RAM module because the previous one was giving me issues, and I haven’t had any crashes since then.

It resolved the problem you mentioned, not just the bluescreens from before.

The screen was blank after the black one this morning, and I haven’t posted since then. It seems like they’ll probably send it to a support team.

Earlier reports indicated the GPU vanishing, but now the DRAM LED lights suggest a CPU problem. If RAM is excluded, I’m more inclined toward the motherboard. The PCIe lanes connecting the GPU would reach the CPU, yet additional errors would appear if the CPU were faulty. Do you have the BSOD dump files available?

Sorry to hear you're still experiencing problems. The BSOD didn't happen recently, and after cleaning up the dump files, I went to a service center. I'll keep this thread open until they identify the root cause.
