I assembled my PC in early August and saw slots A1 and B2 marked as reserved. I set it aside because I only had two sticks. Last week I upgraded my RAM to 32GB and filled all slots, but now it appears full in BIOS with 32GB listed while the DRAM shows 16GB. I’ve tried everything—re-seating RAM, cleaning the ports. It seems there might be a BIOS setting I can’t locate or a faulty motherboard. I know my RAM works fine since I moved the working ones to the available slots, and the new ones in old slots are functioning. Also, when using XMP profiles to push it to 2900MHz, it no longer boots properly. Thanks to anyone who is willing to help me out.

Hi. Do you understand that the CPU-Z data shows Slots 1 and 4 as dual ranks, while Slots 2 and 3 are single ranks? Also, it mentions variations in chip manufacturers. Are you using different kits? Consider swapping the RAM sticks in Slots 3 and 4 to test the results.

2 sets of 2 sticks purchased initially, later bought another pack but they match. I changed the slots but no changes were made. Now slots 1 and 2 show "duel," while 3 and 4 display single 3 and 4 as Samsung.

Confirm the specifications match the sticker labels and check if a BIOS reset to defaults improves performance.

the specs and model match; the bios has been reinitialized several times after installing the new modules. i question whether updating the bios would resolve the problem, but i suspect the issue might lie with the motherboard instead of the ram.

Have you considered fitting your latest RAM module solely in the 2nd and 4th slots?

Currently, the setup has two and four positions ready, prior to your request to change the sticks. At this moment, the older sticks were in slots 1 and 3, while slot 2 and 4 are malfunctioning.

Yes, that's what I intended. Keep the 2 and 4 sticks in place and take out the 1 and 3 sticks. This is to see if the new RAM sticks are faulty.

Both seem to function well, especially with 16GB storage on two sticks. It’s puzzling why slot 4 is working now while others aren’t.

Remove both RAM modules and place them in slots 1 and 3. Then put the older RAM in slots 2 and 4 again. Observe the outcome.
