I've been putting this off for a while but this is a follow up to my previous topic. I tried to get the Windows 7 ISO from the Windows website but when I put the product key in, it is saying that it is for a prebuild system and I would have to contact manufacturer (Lenovo). My question is, is there a website that I can download the ISO (legally) without going through a product key verification? Or is there another way to reinstall Windows? Any help is appreciated.

You might require another installer or a distinct license key. It seems unclear why the download isn’t permitted legally. You don’t have to input the license key immediately.

You probably need to contact Lenovo to recover or install your device

You might purchase a Windows 7 CD to install locally, but it's better to upgrade to Windows 10 and later obtain a license.

In the CoC it specifies we can't mention torrenting as an alternative. This aligns with what I've noticed on other discussion boards.

You can obtain Windows 10 without a product key by installing it directly on a Windows 10 machine. If that isn't possible, you may need to reach out to Lenovo or explore alternative methods. I can't verify this process on Windows 7 since I haven't used it recently. Personally, if none of these options work, purchasing a license key for Windows 10 would be the next step unless your requirements differ from Windows 7.

I didn’t intend to recommend torrenting or any illegal activities. I just understand you might be able to download a Windoze 7 installer legally. To do so, you’ll need a license key. Since you can provide the key later, you can at least test whether the installation works. I’m assuming the disk is faulty, which is common with laptops. If you’d like to check, you can use clonezilla and create a backup of the entire drive. This will help determine if the issue is with the disk itself.

Torrenting isn't inherently illegal, and obtaining a legal Windows copy isn't the issue. The concern centers around a site that also hosts illicit torrents. Your download might not work with any generic version you find online—it likely requires a tailored setup for your system, such as one from Lenovo. https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/

I thought this was the situation, but I needed another perspective. I wasn’t aware of it. This could be a feasible choice.

I could attempt this initially before contacting Lenovo. Appreciate the explanation.
