No one mentioned using a DVD, but you can choose to set it up on a USB or a DVD. You’ll need the VM ISO file.

Browser extensions can mimic the MS website to appear as if you're using an unsupported operating system, enabling direct downloads. Alternatively, you can rely on mirror sites. These may lack the most recent update packages. A reliable mirror example is windowsiso.net.

Next to the media creation tool, additional choices should exist for downloading the ISO straight away, bypassing the need to use the tool.

Currently there are no more options available. On a Windows PC, the only choice is MCT download, and it suggests using manufacturer recovery tools. For Mac or Linux systems, direct download links are provided.

I have a 200 down connection, but after using the MCT to download the ISO, I left it running overnight. That setup isn’t yours. Also, why are some saying there’s no need to download the ISO? That information might help you understand its purpose. You could create a bootable USB from the Windows 10 ISO if needed. Some users require the ISO to mount the image in a VM, which is quicker and simpler than transferring a USB stick manually.

Up until now, I've only encountered one person (whom I won't reveal) who has this unusual preference: to fix anything in Windows by completely reinstalling the operating system, or to make a bootable USB drive only through MCT. If the USB isn't working, it's because it wasn't created with MCT—no matter the software, ISO, or whether it was purchased with a key. This isn't the view of most people.

I actually like ISO more than anything... Even without using any VMs. So far I've had to create four Windows installers for USBs because one stick failed, another was accidentally broken by someone, one got borrowed permanently, and the last one is still safely stored in my software collection. If I waited for the MCT to download and prepare the drive each time, I might have ended up in trouble already. With the ISO just plug a USB in, open Rufus, and press start.
