I'm on Windows 10 and downloading a big torrent file—it's fine. The file itself is legal. Since you're not living alone, you're worried about privacy. Apps and programs may still run in the background even when your account is locked.

Exactly that's why it's named "Lock" rather than "Hibernate," "Sleep," or "Shut down."

The download will keep going. Secure the password for maximum safety—no one should lose access. Lock settings are enabled to protect your system. Sleep mode will halt all program activity, prevent downloads from starting, and cause freezing of the computer’s memory. If you power down properly, the download won’t proceed. Restarting or rebooting will restart the process. Shutting down fully stops both hardware and OS functions. Hibernation saves RAM to a file and restarts smoothly when powered back on.

Press Windows Key + L for quick access. To conceal your P2P activity from your ISP, consider using a VPN, though keep in mind that not every VPN offers P2P support. https://www.bestvpn.com/best-vpn-torrenting/

Yes, when Sleep is activated and the machine is locked, it will remain in sleep mode until manually stopped or released.
