Steam displays downloads using bytes by default, but internet speed is measured in bits. Each byte contains 8 bits, so the conversion matters—60MB/s equals 480Mbps, which matches what your ISP charges. If you prefer, you can adjust Steam’s settings to show downloads in bits per second.
Information travels as sequences of 1s and 0s, which explains why the internet is described in bits, yet it is saved in bytes (eight bits) since that’s the smallest amount of data that can be stored.
