I believed steam provided a speed of 1.8MB/s on my 16Mbps connection. Now, after downloading Battlefront, I’m getting 2.10MB/s. That seems odd! How can a 16Mbps link deliver more than 1.8–1.9MB/s?

In theory, you could achieve around 2 megabytes each second. The numbers might not always match—your speed could exceed 16Mbps, the source might be slightly high, or some data compression is taking place.

Origin efficiently handles compression during downloads, which reduces the amount of data transferred. After compression, it decompresses automatically, allowing for quicker download speeds. That’s likely the mechanism in play.

Check your connection speed at up to 16Mbps consistently. The test link provides real results.

The calculation shows 2MBps multiplied by 8 equals 16Mbps. It seems you're noticing something unexpected about the speed.

Absolutely, I typically receive speeds around my standard download rate plus an additional 10 to 500 percent from the source, which means they offer some excellent servers.
