Download issues with Epic Games Unstable
Comparing the download and install speeds between Steam and Epic is tricky. It might be that Epic handles things faster, with impressive IO stats—like a 10MB/s download but 500MB/s writing to your SSD. Epic could be downloading and updating games in real time, while Steam might download separately before copying new data. This could mean Epic uses less space or completes tasks quicker, even if there are moments where nothing seems to happen.
The reported I/O numbers seem inconsistent with what I observe when writing data. During downloads I see about 400MB/s, yet my drive isn’t performing that speed and its activity doesn’t align. It’s possible the figures are accurate but measured differently.
