You're interested in joining a new competitive MOBA. Since you're new to this genre, consider voting for a popular and well-regarded champion to start with.

Don’t worry about all the League of Legends grumblings. I’d actually enjoy playing it. I haven’t played Dota yet, but I’ve watched some gameplay and didn’t really care much about it.

^This. So much of this. I can never play league solo. It just isn't as fun. I need my friend's reactions when something stupid happens. It's not saying it's a bad game. It's just it's so much more fun with friends. Having people in a call makes it so much more fun because you get to coordinate when everyone makes plays and wombo combos.

I enjoy DOTA because it has a nicer appearance and fights don't always result in death, plus LOL feels more cartoonish for me. Just keep in mind that new players might face criticism from Russians and Peruvians who only say 'noob,' and if you mock them often, they probably won’t understand your point of view...

So since no one seems to come up with the right words, I’ll say this: I’ve played both for years now, and I can tell you they’re quite different. In League of Legends it’s about clearing enemy towers to reach their base and win, which means you have to engage in many team fights, killing a lot of enemies. That requires a lot of time in team battles, and if you enjoy games where your score matters and you can usually win by yourself, then League fits you. It’s also fun if you like getting kills and enjoying the challenge of taking down new players.

Dota 2, on the other hand, demands a much higher level of coordination. You must constantly communicate, learn to counter opponents, manage creeps, switch between roles, and stay patient. Winning depends on timing your moves perfectly and supporting your team. While League focuses on solo or small-team victories, Dota 2 is about teamwork and strategy at a much deeper level.

This is the main difference—League is more about personal achievement, while Dota 2 emphasizes collaboration and precision. If you prefer a game that offers a good balance of fun and challenge, Dota 2 could be the better fit for you.

I've had my share of both sides, but when it comes to FPS, people warn you to skip CoD. Same goes for me—playing BF is enough. I own BF3, BF2, and CoD, but I still prefer CoD. LoL really appeals to me, so switching feels unnecessary.

You clearly underestimate League of Legends. From a competitive standpoint, your squad can dominate with just a handful of kills against an opponent’s eight. With five players, it’s easy to win fights without needing massive pressure. You don’t have to be perfect—just secure wins. If the enemy struggles in trade fights, you can still pull off a victory with minimal effort. When the opposition is weak, you can easily secure high-tier champions like dragons or barons. League isn’t just about getting kills; it’s about understanding strategy and patience. Nobody enjoys a one-size-fits-all approach in ranked play. DOTA might have its challenges, but your perspective misses the bigger picture. It’s all about adapting and thinking ahead.
