Dota 2 or Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO)
Hey there, I just began playing CS:GO a while back, even though I’m mostly into Dota 2. I really enjoyed it and kept playing for two weeks before I wanted to switch back to Dota 2. Now I’m torn between the two, having friends in both communities. I’m unsure which game to prioritize since I have 1500 hours in Dota 2 and only 150 hours in CS:GO. Learning a new game all over again would be tough for me. I’m also worried about the player bases—Dota 2 has around a million players constantly, while CS:GO peaks at 900k and dips to 400k-600k. Plus, I care about the pro scene; Dota 2 has bigger tournaments with huge prize pools like $10M, whereas CS:GO’s biggest event offers just $250K. So, which one should I focus on? I’m not sure if I should play both or stick to one. Thanks for all the advice—I’m new here and really appreciate your help!
You can't play both because there aren't enough resources available.
You seem overwhelmed by juggling multiple games. What’s the issue?
To reach the top, focus on one competitive game. This is why professional players limit themselves to a single sport. In reality, I’ve played both, but only CS:GO competitively, and I enjoy it more due to its variety. Hacking is more common in CS:GO than in Dota 2, though neither is perfect. I picked CS:GO simply because it fits my preferences better.
To lead, he shouldn't rely on the internet for advice. He needs to understand his own strengths and what game he excels at.
It was mainly about sharing my perspective. I could only mention the reasons behind my choice, but I don’t think CS:GO is superior.
They both attract big audiences. But without natural skill, it’s nearly impossible to succeed. Unless you’re a rare exception like a famous 7K MMR NEL player, it’s tough to compete. Having different types of fans is nice.
i’m not aiming for professional success—it’s just that I want to really excel at one game, and switching to csgo feels tough because i already spend a lot of time on dota 2. my other issue is that playing two games together makes me average in both, since i and my friends often compete at the same time.
