You're exploring a way to set up a dedicated network for your server with a separate internet connection. It's a smart approach, but it depends on your setup and the capabilities of your ISP.

In theory, certain ISPs enable this and might need a different modem. Your setup might not support it, so it’s wise to ask them. If another ISP exists nearby, they could be a good option for a backup connection.

You're likely going to have to cover an additional charge, that's for sure.

It varies by location in Australia, allowing you to use any spot with either NBN or copper connection, but you cannot have both fiber cables at the same place.

Would you like two distinct ISPs or just two separate networks linked through one ISP? With the proper gear that uses VLANs, you can achieve this. For two ISPs, consider a dual WAN router and connect them, then apply VLANs to manage your traffic.

I've thought about using a VLAN, but I'd prefer a completely different router setup for handling ICMP and related tasks.
