I used to play Doom 3 on Linux with a retail license many years ago. I checked Steam and saw it only shows Windows as a requirement, but I’m curious if it can run natively from there. Someone who has Linux and Doom 3 on Steam could confirm whether it launches properly.

I discovered this discussion on Steam forums from 2010. It might still function, though I recommend going through the entire first step before investing any money. You should also check if Steam offers a "show CD key" option now, as it can simplify the process.

I understand your concern. It's uncertain whether Doom 3 would work smoothly on a modern Linux system without any compatibility problems.
