Motherboard: msi x370 gaming pro carbon
Processor: amd ryzen 7 1700x
Ram: tridentz rgb 3200 2x8gb ddr4
Whenever i attempt to overclock my trident z ram from 2133 to 3200, the computer powers on and then shuts down after a few seconds repeatedly. I haven’t tried this for months out of concern. Could this indicate a hardware issue? I’ve been using the system normally at 2133 for several months now, but I’m considering restarting since some new bios updates for my motherboard have improved ram compatibility. Did I make a mistake? Any advice would be appreciated. I tested different profiles and manually adjusted the voltage around 6 months ago. Thanks for your help.

Try using XMP or DOCP according to your BIOS's name.

I have the identical build. Ram is Trident Z RGB 2x8Gb 3200Mhz CL16-18-18-38 1.35v (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR). After the first boot following the upgrade, the RAM was adjusted to 2133Mhz, though the BIOS was outdated. I updated the BIOS to the latest version 7A32v1G. Now the RAM is configured for XMP Profile 2 - 3200 and it operates smoothly.

Ryzen 1700x with Wraith Spire RGB Cooler
MSI x370 Gaming Pro Carbon
16Gb G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200Mhz
MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Armor 8Gb OC
Samsung 960 EVO 250Gb
Samsung 860 Pro 1TB 2.5"
WD 4TB Black 3.5"
