My computer is not working at all. It looks completely dead when you look at it. Most computers have an LED light on the side that lights up to tell if they are alive, but mine does not glow even though I am sure it should be fine. After fixing something else with it and going back tomorrow, trying to turn it on by pressing the button doesn't help either. Could you please give me some advice? Edit: I tried removing the battery and holding the power switch down for a long time. Even after putting the battery back in, nothing happens.
Do you make or model your laptop? If you give us a specific part number (SKU), that would help us fix this two-fold problem. Oh wait, I tried to get rid of the static electricity on my own too. I took out the battery, kept pressing the power button for more than a minute, and put the battery back in right away. Nothing showed up yet. If your RAM isn't soldered to the motherboard's board, you need to take that apart after unplugging the battery, then press the power button and hold it down really hard until all the electricity drains out completely. Also, use an eraser to rub over the gold contacts on any loose RAM sticks. Keep rubbing them until they look clean. Then wipe away any dust or dirt from the slots before putting the memory back in place.
I can't find the SKU for sure, but my model is an ASUS X515EP-BQ309T. If I take out the ram and press power without taking it out first, will that work? Would that be okay? I want to try this RAM later on since I had to cut with a knife before. Can you help me? Thank you so much for your reply!
Update: I took out the battery and RAM again, wiped out the static, and it's still not working 😩
Check your whole circuit board (PCB) for any signs of burning or damage on the motherboard. If the charger is working fine and the laptop itself isn't broken, then you should be able to turn it on using just the wall plug without even needing a battery inside.
It looks like nothing bad has broken inside that laptop yet. If your charger works fine and there are no problems with the motherboard, you should be able to turn it on without the battery but only by plugging in the power cord from the wall. I actually tried this after you told me to take out the RAM (and even took out the SSD) and it didn't work at all. My brother has a laptop of the same type so I used his charger, which doesn't work either😤. I would be happy to wait until things are fixed using my PS4 but that one also decided to break on me.
