It's been about four months since this problem began. I'm not sure if it's the PSU or the motherboard, but the sound comes from the top of the tower. The PSU is two years old, Silverstone St50F, and I haven't used even half of it. The motherboard seems to be failing—maybe it won't open after shutting it down, and you have to wait about 30 minutes before trying again. I've checked RAM, CPU, and PSU in another PC, everything works fine, so I think the issue is with the motherboard. Is the crackling noise typical for a PSU or motherboard? And after the noise, my monitor would black out and then come back on.

A video showing a distinct audio capture would be useful.

It only occurs occasionally, which means I can't capture a video more than every four hours.

You're absolutely certain about the noise? It might just be a fan moving near some wires.

It’s a bit of plastic that bends quickly—only for a short time. I don’t have case fans, so it isn’t affected by them. Once the noise stops, my screen turns black for a moment before returning to normal.

It's not necessary for a case fan; your CPU cooler also relies on its own fan.

It's quiet unless you get close to it. I'm using DeepCool Ice Edge Mini FS v2 with an A8 6600K CPU, and even then, a black screen appears when browsing the internet. Probably my failing motherboard.

It might depend on factors beyond just the sound level—like if the fan is misaligned, shaking, or experiencing friction. There could also be a worn-out bearing causing occasional noises.

I don't believe a bearing would cause such problems, so it's unlikely. Thanks for checking, I'll go ahead and replace the A8 6600K and A68 motherboard with X79 and 2650 V2. Let me know if the issue persists, it might be the PSU.

The phrasing seemed a bit unclear, almost like the video repeated itself. That’s why I made my recommendation.
