Does your i5 7400 with MSI B150m-Pro VD and GTX 1070 face any limitations?
I own a fresh build PC with these specifications:
MSI B150m-Pro VD
2 x 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM
i5 7400 3.0GHz to 3.5GHz (Turbo boost)
Palit Super Jetstream GTX 1070 8GB
120GB ADATA SSD
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Cooler Master G750m
My concerns are whether this configuration will face bottleneck issues and which components might need replacement.
Additionally, I also have a used i5 8400, but I don’t have funds to upgrade the motherboard for it. Is my CPU suitable for the GTX 1070?
Appreciate any responses, I’m just starting out.
I noticed the I5 8400 is a strong CPU compared to the 7400, but I haven’t found any GTX 1070 models that pair well with those processors. Now I’m unsure if my GTX 1070 is causing a bottleneck with my current i5 7400. Could you help me figure this out? Thank you for your quick reply.
Not a significant issue, just a small one. It depends on the game. You're prepared for many years. Upgrades will only come when you switch to 4K. I’ve played with a 6th gen i5/1070 combo and it’s great. My CPU isn’t even turbo clocked (I set it to 3.0 GHz). I consistently get over 100 fps at 1440p in most games. Just ensure you fine-tune every graphic setting per game, and you’ll be fine. Keep particles, grass, and global illumination off or on low settings as needed. It varies by title.
