i don’t know much about pc hardware, but i recently assembled one last year. it had a gtx 1070, 16gb ddr4 ram, and an intel 15 6600k cpu with a corsair liquid cooler. most games work well, though some big open world or survival titles occasionally show lag spikes. is overclocking the cpu a good idea? with the xbox one x arriving, i’ve been wondering how it managed to run 4k natively so cheaply. what steps would i need to take to try achieving 4k on my pc? could another gtx 1070 help? thanks in advance for any advice.

The 6600k doesn't limit the 1070 at all, but if you notice issues, you can definitely push it overclock for improved performance. Many current games are extremely CPU-intensive and an i5 might be struggling in some cases. However, this discussion is about Ultra settings. You can reduce them slightly for a more stable experience.
Your 1070 is already able to manage 4k... [link provided]
Not every game performs well with SLI/Crossfire. It's best to use one powerful card.

The 6600k doesn't cause issues with the 1070, but if you notice problems, you can definitely try overclocking for improved performance. Some current games are extremely CPU-heavy and may struggle on an i5. I believe we're discussing Ultra settings here. You might want to lower them slightly for a better experience.

You'll see minimal improvement in OC performance ratio.
The combination works adequately.
