Does Windows Security remain active during a full scan?
Does Windows Security remain active during a full scan?
Hi guys,
I've had a bit of time on my hands this week so decided to do a bit of system maintenance... I appear to have an issue with Security, I've tried several times now, and after updates, sfc etc., and I still can't get it to complete.
From memory, I've sure I used to run Full Scans and they'd take about an hour? My current attempts just appear to be hanging at varying stages of the scan.
Any ideas?
Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information.
Even though the interface suggests you can continue working while scanning, aim to let the scan proceed without interruption. Observe any improvements in scan duration or resolution of issues.
Review Task Manager and Resource Monitor for additional processes: applications attempting updates, backups, or connectivity tasks.
Consider using Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) for deeper analysis.
Check Reliability History and Event Viewer to identify error codes, warnings, or informational events during the scan.
The goal is to pinpoint the cause of any disruptions.
Both of you are welcome! I'll continue the research later.
The spec's machine looks fairly solid, with all details provided and up to date as of version 11. I'm pretty sure the Full Scans were functioning properly about a month ago—just thought it might fail after an update.
I've observed that during the scans, my CPU temperatures rise significantly. Could be just a coincidence.
