Hey, I have been having a problem where my computer keeps restarting around 8:36 am every single day. This happens even if no program is open. I don't know why there are no scheduled tasks either. When I look at the Event Viewer, it says this process C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.EXE (DESKTOP-UV8LQ0T) started a restart of my computer DESKTOP-UV8LQ0T on behalf of user DESKTOP-UV8LQ0T\Sean. The reason is "No title for this reason" and the error code is 0x800000ff. Can you help me with this?

Download your computer's system and application logs, then save them like this: Open Event Viewer by typing "eventvwr" in the Run box. Find the Windows Logs folder on the left side and click the arrow to expand it. Right-click the Application entry and choose Save all events as..., pick a spot for the file named Application, and let the computer add an .evtx name automatically. Do the same for System: right-click that entry, save files named System, and again let the computer generate an .evtx name on its own. Put both files together into one zip folder and send it to me here.

I made those files myself, so that's fine. Go ahead and upload the ZIP to the cloud now. Just give me a link to it there too. Don't forget to set it as public.

I do not care what you are doing, but if I had to click a link from someone else without asking them first, I'd be worried about my files getting taken away or messed up. It's better to wait for my own confirmation before downloading anything strange.

Does that mean you checked Task Scheduler? It might be that you didn't actually create the event at 8:36 am but another app might have done it. Event Viewer could help a lot here. You can also check Reliability History or Monitor - those are easier to use and show patterns in time lines. Look too with Process Explorer (Microsoft, totally free) to see what's running on your machine right now. You're probably looking for some unknown or strange process going behind the scenes that could be causing this. There is no need to rush. First, just find out why it's happening. Then try to fix it without immediately editing the registry or downloading risky .zip files from shady sites.
