Does updating the laptop GPU BIOS improve performance?
Hey everyone, good day. Recently the new Call of Duty Warzone was released and I really enjoyed it, so I bought the whole game. I’m trying to run it on my Lenovo Legion y540 15irh laptop at 1080p 60fps, but sometimes it drops to around mid-50s, which makes the experience quite choppy. I also can’t play it at 1600x900 because it looks too blurry.
Here are the laptop details:
- CPU: i5 9300h (2.4 GHz base clock, 4.1 GHz boost)
- GPU: GTX 1650 (4GB VRAM, overclocked with 300MHz memory boost and 205MHz core clock boost)
- RAM: 16GB at 2400MHz
- Power supply: 170W
I plan to build a custom PC eventually, but not in the next six months. Should I go ahead and flash my GPU BIOS for even more overclocking? Also, I recently replaced both my CPU and GPU with an Arctix MX 4, and temperatures stay under 66°C during load.
Do not update your BIOS unless you encounter any problems with the laptop. BIOS updates are only necessary in extreme cases for compatibility, and they won’t improve performance in your situation.
