Does this question work with a keystone jack?
I have lots of old P&S RJ45 plugs and sockets I used for my home office setup. Now that I need more, it seems I only own Keystone style ones left. These are different kinds. Is there a way to make the new Keystones work with the old flat P&S plates? Or can I go from old plates to new Keystones without breaking anything?
I think you are talking about those old plates where the jack was built into the plate itself. Basically, if they were meant for data and not phones, everything should fit fine together. Most jacks use a 568a or 568b pattern. If both ends match up correctly, it will work. The newer keystone types are easier to find because they have colorful patterns printed on the side, and many just let you punch the wires through with a cover without needing special tools. That doesn't really matter much as long as you make sure each wire pair goes into the right pins, then everything will function properly.
