So occasionally, without warning, my computer stops working after being perfectly fine for about a year. I take it to a repair shop with a new motherboard, and a couple days later it comes back with the new board and a fresh power supply installed. As soon as everything is connected and I launch a game, the machine just powers off without any warning and restarts. At that point, I checked for other problems and found the cause to be two incompatible RAM sticks—removing one fixed the issue. After replacing the RAM with high-quality modules, the problem continues in an unusual manner. It sometimes happens randomly during gameplay, usually in the warzone lobby. If I just keep restarting after a crash, it occasionally works again, but it’s becoming quite frustrating. I’ve eliminated several potential causes, such as thermal problems, memory issues, CPU faults, GPU problems, and motherboard defects. I’m leaning towards the power supply being the culprit, since I’m unsure what type they used (it’s 700W, which is too much for my system and many mid-range setups). My current specs are:

Intel Core i5-9400F @ 2.9GHz, Turbo boost enabled
GeForce GTX 1660
16gb TridentZ NEO @3600MHz CL18
MSI B365 PRO-VDH

UPDATE: The PSU is a Cooler Master RS-700-PCAA (no 80+ rating). Here’s a link to the product details:
https://www.cnet.com/products/coolermast...-700-watt/

I also tested connecting the PC to a standard wall outlet instead of a power strip, but no improvement was seen. I ran a Windows Restore tool, but opted not to spend $30 on software repair since I already found many issues.

Anyone have suggestions about what might be going wrong? If I decide to replace the power supply, I can give it a try.

Turn off the XMP profile in the BIOS settings, check if those random problems disappear, and if they do, then you can't use the XMP profile with your sticks.

I'm pretty sure I've already attempted that, but I'll give it another shot and check the results.
