I’m thinking about switching platforms or just getting a Z390i ITX board. I’ll be gaming at 1440p with a 2080 series card from AMD or NVIDIA.
Do you already possess the CPU? If yes, you might sell it and transition to another system such as Zen 2 or Comet Lake, or explore what Zen 3 provides. However, if that isn't feasible, you could opt for a Z390 board and consider it complete, provided you already have this CPU. If not, skip this path—3600/10600k units are more reliable and represent a viable option.
Ah, yea now that i read it again, it makes sense lol. Then @OP, you could sell the current ATX board and check how much an itx one would cost, or you could sell the current board and cpu and move to comet lake or zen 2 or wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer since this is a dead platform more or less.
I already have the CPU. I'm just concerned about the differences between Gen 3 and Gen 4 on the 3000 GPU line.
Generally, gen 3 provides sufficient bandwidth, particularly for Turing tasks since even the 2080ti reaches its limit at x8. However, when it comes to purchasing a new board, ^.
